CONCEPT

AN EXCEPTIONAL EVENT DEDICATED TO ARTISTIC AND DESIGN-INSPIRED RECYCLING IN ALL ITS FORMS!

The Braderie de l’Art was launched in 1991 in Roubaix, based on an original idea from Fanny Bouyagui. The concept: create a unique event that brings together 150 brilliant artists, designers, makers, tinkerers, and inventors of all stripes in a single venue, for 24 hours non-stop. At their disposal, a “super-inventory” of recovered objects and materials of all kinds from local business, grouped under the RE-COLLECTE label, founded by Art Point M.

A vast, temporary workshop, the Braderie de l’Art is a free creative space dedicated to all types of artistic recycling. The “transformative” artists create in a live setting and sell their pieces themselves for between 1 and 400 euros. This generates ART THAT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD over 24 hours, NON-STOP – the historic slogan of the Braderie de l’Art.

RETHINKING
SHAPES
IN A NEW WAY!

The creative minds here refresh old shapes and give the public the chance to live an exceptional artistic experience. Within this surrealistic cacophony, objects are given new life and new owners. The Braderie de l'Art is a platform where a multitude of design processes, both low-tech and high-tech, 3-D printers, CNC milling machines, and other laser cutters, cross paths.

RECYCLING,
THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY,
AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The Braderie de l'Art is based on recycling and the re-use of materials that were largely destined for destruction. It hosts a whole generation of designers and makers who have understood the need to invent new forms of production and of making things in an alternative way by reconnecting with artisanal craftsmanship.
Recycling as part of creating isn’t new, but, at the very heart of the Braderie de l’Art, it becomes a concrete example that everyone can see!
